The edge of a rain front blew across our area yesterday, bringing a series of storms. We were lucky to only catch the edge; if it had hit us full on, there would have been hail as well as well. I’m grateful for the 14mm of rain that fell because the garden needed it. Now everything is washed clean and you can see the fresh greens of new spring leaves everywhere. It’s lovely.
My garden beds are overrun with dying foliage from bulbs and invasive grass from the lawn. The insects and birds don’t seem to care so why should I? If everything looks vaguely tidy, I won’t stress about it.

This week, I’ve been hand stitching the binding on a quilt, which I had professionally quilted last year. Binding large bed-sized quilts is not my favourite part of creating a quilt and so I usually procrastinate. Such a waste; I could have been using the quilt to give the bedroom a new look. Soon…
This past week, I didn’t have any events to attend so have luxuriated in a complete week at home, flitting between my various projects. It’s been such a treat. Even though I have retired from work (and SO happy to not deal with lots of people every day), I have so much to do. I’m grateful for that.
I started blogging 20 years ago, in 2006. I find that astonishing. I started on the Blogger platform with my blog Creative Dabbling. I moved selected posts over to this platform in 2020 and started writing here instead. My interests have stayed the same: reading, quilts, writing, gardening, researching family history. I hope you continue to find something of interest here.
