I have always had unrealistic expectations of how many stitching projects I can actually complete. It still astonishes me that I have finished projects – quilts, embroideries, textile pieces and knitted objects. I even used to make clothes for myself. Amazing.
Compare that to the number of unfinished projects I have piled in my house. There are too many to count and it’s downright depressing. Do I expect to never start anything new and live until I’m 150 to finish them? Unlikely.
So, I didn’t surprise myself by buying a new counted cross stitch pattern from Orenco Originals. It’s way too easy to buy pdf patterns online but, as soon as I came across this, it was love at first sight.
It was only after I bought it, I worked out that since it was 224 stitches x 224 stitches, I would need to stitch more than 50,000 stitches. I wish I hadn’t done that multiplication. But it’s a beauty and will be worth it. I think.
In writing news, the memoir I’m writing seems to have decided it wants to be a novel instead. It’s times like these I’d like to be able to control my subconscious but I suspect it’s telling me something I couldn’t consciously hear. Sigh. Let’s see how that goes.
