Cooler weather is on the way (it was 7 degrees last night!) and that means I start knitting. Or, to be more accurate, it means I pick up the knitting project I abandoned last year and consider continuing with it. Or I start searching various websites for more patterns to knit (and even buy some to add to my files).
I love the idea of knitting. I wish I could produce many garments to keep myself warm but I’m so slow! I know that shouldn’t matter but then I think of how productive my mother was with her knitting. She was a whizz with cables and knitted us many jumpers and cardigans. She even knitted our school jumpers when we were children and that was something I never wanted. I wanted to fit in with classmates and I yearned for a normal commercially-made school jumper. It wasn’t to be until high school.
Anyway, I didn’t inherit any knitting skills from my mother, the demon knitter. Everything I know I taught myself from books. If only YouTube had been invented then!

Back to my current knitting, a cardigan with a moss stitch border. I only have to knit the front bands and sew all the pieces together and it’s done. I may even be able to wear it this year. ☺️
If you’re admiring my project bag, it was a gift from my friend Sarah. She sells her pattern for it here, so you can make your own version. Sarah knows I’m a fan of blue, so she chose some lovely fabrics to delight me.
