This morning’s purchase: The Museum of Lost Quilts. I have high hopes for this story, mainly that it engages me and is a worthy addition to the Elm Creek Quilts series.
Like many other quilters, I was thrilled when the first book in the series, The Quilter’s Apprentice, appeared in 1999. Here was a novel that embraced not only the joy of quilt making, but also the friendships that could be forged through the craft. I was hooked and sought all the following books in the series.
Some didn’t hold my interest – mainly the historical ones – but I loved the contemporary stories in the series. I tried some of the author’s other historical fiction but none appealed. So, I’m pleased The Museum of Lost Quilts is here and, fingers crossed, delivers a great read.
In the latest episode of her podcast The Quilt Fiction Podcast, Frances O’Roark Dowell interviews Jennifer Chiaverini about the book and it was interesting to hear the author speak about the series. You can listen to it wherever you get your podcasts. (I access it through my iPad because Apple now provides transcripts of podcasts, which I prefer to read instead of listening.)
