Hello! How was your week? Mine was cold and busy.
The frigid weather has hit most of south-eastern Australia and that includes us. We had our first frost for the season last Thursday – later than the past two years. I’ve abandoned my garden this week because I prefer to stay cosy inside, though I did venture out to a garden club meeting.
Our guest speaker was Jim Powell from Camellias Australia and he kept us entertained. I so love camellias and plan to buy a few more for my garden once the icy winds stop. This one is already in my garden and it’s simply gorgeous. If you know the name of it, please let me know! Another few pink ones would make me very happy.
Speaking about camellias, this article is about a discovery of some of the oldest and rarest camellias in the Western world, in an estate in Yorkshire in the UK. Interesting.
New technology is always fun. I have a new phone and am enjoying setting it up just the way I like it. There are so many apps that make my life more interesting while others make me stop and wonder why anyone would want them! Which apps do you find useful?
This phone has a much better camera than my old one and, since I take so many photos in gardens, I’m anticipating some beauties. My photos act as a visual diary of when plants bloom and also show how they develop over time. So exciting!
Also, I’m adding these newsletters here so you have more places to read them – direct to your inbox via Substack, on the Substack app, or on my website. The choice is yours!
Have a lovely week.
