Using my fabric stash

30 January 2026

Well, I’m trying to do that. Most of the quilts I make are made from small pieces sewn together to make blocks. Any appliqué pieces I cut are only small, which is great for using scraps of fabric but has no apparent impact on the size of my stash.

So, I’ve been looking for a way to use large pieces of fabric instead. Like most quilters, I have pieces of ‘precious’ fabrics that I am loathe to cut. These are the fabrics I want to feature in a new quilt but how?

I’ve drawn a design that may give me what I want – the opportunity to feature large squares of favourite prints. This drawing gives you a rough idea of what I have in mind.

Let’s see how that project proceeds…
