Weekend reading

18 September 2021

Reading keeps me informed and entertained while our lives are still restricted by the plague. I read articles from many, many magazines each month, thanks to my public libraries.

They subscribe to hundreds of titles through PressReader and Libby so members can read them for free. Does your library offer these services? It’s especially handy while our local libraries are closed in parts of Australia during lockdowns.

Sometimes, browsing a magazine or newspaper is all I can manage. Paying attention is difficult some days.

Here are a few articles I’ve read lately. They may interest you, too.

Top plants that will survive the average home gardener

Camellias saved a house from bushfire. Now the owner is saving them

The dividing line between so-called normality and ‘madness’ is thinner than we think

How my farmer friend Wilf gave me a new perspective

Meet the man behind Tveeder, the no-frills live TV transcript
